Swedish Massage
Swedish massage is a whole-body therapeutic massage treatment that works the soft tissues and muscles to help restore health - creating a calming and balancing effect on the nervous system. The various Swedish massage techniques, are designed to improve your circulation, soothe your muscles and make you feel more relaxed. Swedish massage uses soft strokes on the bonier and more delicate parts of the body, and stronger strokes where there is thicker muscle coverage. This adjustment of pressure makes it an ideal massage for relaxation. Best known for soothing tight muscles and boosting well-being, Swedish massage also offers a whole host of other health benefits, including easing muscular strain by flushing out toxins, improving blood circulation and blow flow throughout the body, easing back pain and chronic pain and reducing emotional and physical. stress
Reflexology
Reflexology applies pressure to a range of particular points on your feet that correspond with all the organs, glands, tissues and muscles in your body. This helps improve circulation of blood, oxygen and energy around the body, relieving stress and healing pain in other parts of the body. We are all familiar with the classic 'knee-jerk' response - the doctor taps the patient below the knee, and his lower leg bounces up into the air - if you do something to one part of the body you can cause a reaction in another part.
Reflexology applies this response to the whole body. By applying pressure to points on your feet and hands, you can treat and heal issues elsewhere in the body. Reflexology is based on the principles that our bodies are mapped by channels of energy, so when we feel pain, or we are generally unwell, the flow of that energy is blocked in some way. By putting pressure on specific parts of these channels, the reflexologist sends an impulse or message all the way along it, which removes blockages and encourages the energy to flow freely again and you body to start healing itself. Because it is such a comprehensive treatment, a reflexology session can help you in many ways, with anything from a trapped nerve to depression. Reflexology is recommended by doctors for a variety of conditions, including back pain and muscle strain, sports injuries, stress, anxiety and depression, sleep disorders, poor circulation, migraine, pre-menstrual tension, symptoms of the menopause or balancing the central nervous system.
Aromatherapy Massage
Aromatherapy works on the basis that the smell of the essential oils triggers the limbic system: the part of the brain linked with emotion. This is why a scent can affect how you feel, and help you relax. We use a specific blend of pure essential oils and massaged into your skin to increase your sense of well-being.
The essential oils used in aromatherapy are extracted from raw plant material. Only a small amount of essential oil is needed, which is blended with a larger amount of "carrier" oil, such as jojoba, sweet almond or grapeseed. Commonly used essential oils include flowers oils such as camomile, lavender, rose, geranium and jasmine, and oils extracted from trees such as eucalyptus, peppermint and sandalwood. Smell is a very powerful sense that can also work with your memory. Certain smells can remind you of events, people and places. The smell can also take you back to how you felt about what you're remembering: your emotional memory.
Using blended aromatherapy oils, the massage is personally tailored to the individual’s needs. In a typical aromatherapy session, the aromatherapist will ask questions about previous medical history, general health, wellbeing and lifestyle. This helps the practitioner to choose and blend the safest and most appropriate essential oils for the individual. The oils may be applied in combination with massage or the aromatherapist may suggest other methods. Aromatherapy may be found to be helpful to those wanting to reduce everyday stress and so help with the ability to cope, relax and sleep. As well as being used in individual therapy sessions, it could be helpful using it at home.
Aromatherapy and essential oils are often used to relieve stress and anxiety, promote overall wellness, help you to sleep better; whether you have problems getting to sleep (insomnia) or staying asleep, help you relax, relieve tiredness or aching muscles, soothe chronic pain, aid concentration, relieve some types of psoriasis.
Venus Relaxation Massage
Most massage treatments will relax you, among other things. With a Venus Relaxation Massage, relaxing you is the only aim. For this reason, it is one of the most complete and indulgent massages you can have. Is an extremely relaxing, smooth, gentle, flowing style that promotes general relaxation. A good relaxation massage relieves stress and muscle tension and will leave you oozing with a sense of wellbeing. It achieves this because of the general benefits of massage: it improves your circulation and blood flow, so your organs and skin get more oxygen; aiding with lymphatic drainage. A Venus Relaxation Massage is usually a full-body treatment with a combination of deeply relaxing massage techniques, reflexology and aromatherapy oils. You will have a long, luxurious massage which will use all kinds of massage techniques including long strokes, gentle kneading and rolling of skin and muscle, and perhaps some rhythmic rocking from side to side. It is a passive treatment.
It is a natural instinct to rub or cuddle someone to give them comfort; a relaxation massage takes that instinct and runs with it, or rather 'meanders' with it. The intention is to relax the soft tissues, increase delivery of blood and oxygen to the massaged areas, warm them, and help the body to relax. In a typical massage therapy session, the practitioner will discuss symptoms, medical history and the desired results. Massage may be found to bring relief from everyday aches, reduce stress, increase relaxation, address feelings of anxiety and tension, and aid general wellness. This is the massage to choose if you just want to chill out, and be pampered and spoiled. You will feel fully relaxed, revived and rejuvenated.

Reiki
Not all body treatments require undressing and be hands-on to get a result. "Reiki (pronounced RAY-KEY) Is an ancient Japanese belief-related therapy that uses universal life energy to re-balance and heal the body. Reiki has no association with religion, faith or belief systems and is purely energy-based, although it comes from Buddhist teachings. The Reiki practitioner receives attunements to open their energy centres or chakras ; there are 7 main chakras. These attunements allow healing earth energy to flow through the hand to the person being treated. Your therapist lightly places their hands just above your body in order to influence the flow of qi (life energy) through your body. Reiki is good for stress, relaxation, rebalancing, grounding self-confidence and promotes the body's natural healing process because of its re-balancing effects on the mind, body and spirit. It is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects. The session is carried out on a couch or sitting in a chair, whilst wearing loose comfortable clothes. After a consultation, asking about health and lifestyle issues and anything causing concern, we then explain the treatment: how it works and what the guest may experience. This is usually deep relaxation; some experience heat and tingling around problem areas, others see colours. Many people going through stress, depression, bereavement and so on often have an emotional release such as crying or expressing anger. Reiki is a non-invasive treatment, totally safe for anyone. It is totally energy-based and the body will only take the energy is needs so you can't over-treat. No faith system is needed, just an open mind and an open heart to being treated."
Prenatal Massage
Is a therapeutic bodywork that focuses on the special needs of the mother-to-be as her body goes through the dramatic changes of pregnancy.
The first step of a prenatal massage is to get comfortable.
A prenatal massage enhances the function of muscles and joints, improve circulation, and increase the flow of oxygen to soft tissue and muscles, reduce leg and back pain and joint pain, reduce oedema (water retention) and swelling, improve sleep, improve mood and lower anxiety, regulate hormones, such as helping to decrease levels of stress hormones and increase "happy" hormones such as serotonin and dopamine, reduce muscle tension, and tension headaches. Prenatal massage employs primarily Swedish type massage strokes and usually lasts 50-60 minutes. Lying on your back in the later stages of pregnancy can put undue pressure on this area, so it is more comfortable to lie on your side, both when you sleep, and when you have a massage. Special care is taken in bolstering the mother-to-be’s body to allow for the physical changes that accompany pregnancy. Because of the complexities of pregnancy those receiving are recommended to check in with their doctor to make sure that massage is safe for them. Prenatal massages are generally considered safe after the first trimester, as long as you get the green light from your practitioner and you let your massage therapist know you're pregnant. You should not have any treatments in your first trimester, or if you are less than 12 weeks pregnant, or more than 32 weeks pregnant in the third trimester. It is best to wait until the second trimester to book pregnancy treatments, as you're less likely to have morning sickness, and the risk of miscarriage is less of a worry by this stage.
Don't book a massage if you are suffering from nausea or vomiting, have a high-risk pregnancy or have previous experience of placental abruption, miscarriage or pre-term labour, or you have pre-eclampsia or hypertension. Call the GP if you have any medical concerns and would like to check if it is safe to have a massage.
Waxing (Soft/Srip wax)
A complete hair removal solution suitable for everyone. People tend to enjoy the benefits of waxing because they last longer than some other types of hair removal. Waxing works by removing the hair from the root. As long as it’s done professionally, most people can have a wax and enjoy the benefits. Hot wax, as its name suggests, is wax that is heated and then applied to the skin using a wooden spatula, the therapist applies a disposable strip over the wax, then removes the strip, bringing the wax and hair with it. Once you’ve had a waxing treatment, you will get to know how long your wax lasts, and how soon you want to book in for a new treatment. How often you should wax is an individual decision, but our waxing therapists find clients wait 4-6 weeks between treatments. Please Note: We only use Soft Hot Wax, using disposable paper strips.
